Our Philosophy of Missions
Our philosophy of missions flows from the conviction that God is zealous for the glory of His name among all nations. From eternity, the Father purposed to redeem a people for Himself through the finished work of the Son, and He effectually calls them by the power of the Holy Spirit through the proclamation of the gospel. Therefore, missions is not ultimately man-centered, but God-centered—rooted in His glory, guided by His Word, and empowered by His Spirit.
We believe the central task of missions is the faithful proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ: His sinless life, substitutionary death, and victorious resurrection, calling all people everywhere to repent and believe. This gospel is the power of God for salvation, and it is the ordinary means by which God gathers His people. Because faith comes by hearing, we prioritize preaching, teaching, and Scripture translation so that Christ may be clearly known.
Missions also aims at the establishment and strengthening of healthy local churches. We are not merely seeking converts, but disciples—men and women who are baptized, taught to obey all that Christ has commanded, and incorporated into the life of a local church. Indigenous churches, led by qualified elders, served by qualified deacons, and grounded in sound doctrine, are essential to lasting gospel witness.
We affirm the twin truths of divine sovereignty and human responsibility in missions. We go with confidence, knowing God will save His people, and with urgency, knowing He uses means—our prayers, our sending, and our going.
Finally, we affirm that missions is the calling of the entire church. Some are sent, others send, but all participate through prayer, generosity, and faithful witness, laboring together until the earth is filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.
