Beyond is FBC’s High School Ministry. Our ministry goal is to produce adult disciples, whose faith took root and was nourished throughout their teen years.
The central verse for Beyond is Colossians 2:6-7 “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
This verse drives our four main goals for everything we do.
- Rooted: We desire to lead students to root their lives, identity, and hopes in the truths of the Gospel. And so, students will learn to present, explain, and express the truths of the Gospel.
- Built Up: We seek to encourage students to be formed by the Gospel into the image of Christ. Students will be asked to put into practice the actions and characteristics of Jesus.
- Established: We believe that God’s word is living, active, and the primary means by which God changes hearts. Therefore, students will be encouraged to learn to read the Bible for themselves.
- Abounding in Thanksgiving: The Christian life is a thankful response to the undeserved love of God through Jesus. The students therefore will not seek to earn anything from God, but to love him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
We meet Sunday nights at 6:00-8:30 p.m. in the Swegles Building, and every Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. for Sunday School. We also plan special activities throughout the year; these times together include prayer, service projects, retreats and conferences.
